Is Kmart laying off workers?

Not according to official filings. There is no WARN layoff notice from Kmart in the last 12 months. The most recent was filed Sep 4, 2019 for 60 jobs in Landing Stevensville, Maryland. WARN covers larger layoffs only, so smaller cuts may not appear.

9,423 jobs across all 116 official WARN filings on record since 2006, in 16 states.

The most recent filing lists an effective date of Dec 15, 2019. The WARN Act requires roughly 60 days' advance notice, so the filing date precedes the job losses.
